(Correspondent: Li Fanjie, Li Xiongtao) On March 24th, “Get To Know China” practice course——Activity of appreciation Chinese Culture in 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics was successfully held at the International Education School and the Education Center For Students From Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Those who attended the event included Yang Canming, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President; Yao Li, a Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President; Yu Xiaopeng, the Minister of Academic Affairs; Hu Honghong, the Dean of Graduate School; Zheng Ying, the Dean of College of International Education and the Vice Deans Qin Xiaoli and Wang Zhengjun.
In the beginning, Vice President Yao Li extended a warm welcome to the guests and announced the official start of the event. Then, Principal Yang Canming shared Chinese culture and Chinese spirit in the Beijing Winter Olympics with the guests and Chinese and foreign students. He said, “Friendship of nation’s lies in people’s affinity, and people’s affinity lies in heart-to-heart communication.” Faced with the changing international situation, we should remember the purpose of the Olympic Movement, and all countries should unite to help each other and learn from each other, so that we can move forward together. The purpose of this practical course is to show Chinese culture to Chinese and foreign students and teachers through Beijing Winter Olympic Games, so as to promote their understanding of Chinese culture, and to guide them to become the witnesses, learneres and disseminators of Chinese culture.
Then, Dean Zheng Ying introduced the theme and main content of this practical class, which was divided into two parts: making Bing Dwen Dwen (the mascot of the Winter Olympics) and appreciating Chinese culture.
The guests joined the ranks of Chinese and foreign students to make Bing Dwen Dwen together and exchanged cordially with the students, either discussing the production methods of Bing Dwen Dwen or sharing about their understanding of the Winter Olympics culture. Soon, the Bing Dwen Dwen with different colors and “international flavor” was made.
In the second part of the event, Ms. Li took the audience through the Chinese culture of the Beijing Winter Olympic emblem, medals and venues. The students and teachers from China and abroad had a vivid Chinese culture appreciation lesson around the colorful “Chinese style” elements.
The event attracted more than 30 students and teachers from nearly ten countries, including mainland students, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students, and international students. The participants said that through such activities, they had a more intuitive understanding of Chinese culture in the Beijing Winter Olympics. They will tell the story of Beijing Winter Olympics, and build more bridges of civilization exchange and mutual appreciation in the vision of “Together for a Shared Future”.
This activity is another vivid practice of our school’s “Get To Know China” series of national education courses, through which the teachers and students further promoted the spirit of the Winter Olympics and spread Chinese culture, and injected new “Winter Olympics elements” into our school’s cultural and labor education practice.
